To determine the impact of a daily prebiotic, probiotic, and symbiotic dietary foods/beverages/supplementation on markers of gastrointestinal status (integrity, function, symptoms, and bacterial taxonomy), systemic inflammatory responses (endotoxaemia and cytokinaemia), and markers of QoL (quality of life) in a healthy and active community dwelling population, to guide product development targeting ‘healthy gut’ outcomes.
