Solid state redox active materials play key roles in a range of strategically important areas such as molecular electronics, nanotechnology, sensors and catalytic technologies. This project involves the synthesis of novel porous redox active solid state materials based upon the family of compounds known as the Dawson isopolyanions. Fundamental and critical information concerning the redox composition, charge transport mechanisms, and the materials structure shall be fully elucidated by modern electrochemical and state-of-the-art surface techniques.
