Project Description

The death of a child in the Emergency Department is relatively rare and presents a set of unique challenges for clinicians. Little is known of how well prepared emergency nurses are to deal with this situation and to provide care for dying children and their families. The aim of this study is to explore Australian nurses’ experiences of caring for a child who dies in the Emergency Department. The findings can help inform strategies to support nurses and ensure quality care for children and families.
