The-things-we make-here-want-to-be-free is a dedicated new work project spanning 12 months of sustained studio enquiry in Melbourne and the Australia Council ISCP New York Residency, culminating in 2 confirmed exhibitions. The project includes research at the Tamiment Library New York University and Interference Archive Brooklyn, followed by exhibitions at the ISCP in 2018 and Anna Schwartz Gallery Melbourne in 2019. New work will expand on recent projects intersecting public space, feminist pedagogy and critical labour studies, seeking to contribute to ISCPs series of exhibitions and offsite projects by instigating a participatory project centred around Women’s Labor History and the urgent legacy these histories offer in making visible the precarious labour embedded in contemporary art.
