Project Description

The MothersMatter Intervention (MMI) project will develop and pilot a new nurse-led program to support pregnant women with mental illness. It will comprise three components: (1) Clinical Nursing Consultation (2) Healthy Pregnancy Toolkit (3) Telephone Support Service. MMI will be incorporated in to the Alfred Women's Mental Health Clinic, which is based at the Monash Alfred Psychiatry research centre (MAPrc). The new program will add an extra dimension to the care of women in this vulnerable population group within Victoria, by supporting, educating and encouraging them to maintain robust physical and mental health and wellbeing during pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period.
