Project: Research

Project Details

Project Description

This project will investigate the ways in which antisemitism has manifested in the cultural and creative industries, and how Jewish artists and philanthropists have been targeted especially since 7 October. Developed and led by the Australian Centre for Jewish Civilisation (ACJC), the Monash Initiative for Rapid Research into Antisemitism (MIRRA) will provide a series of discrete research projects, each addressing a specific area in which antisemitism harms Australian Jewry and society more broadly. Through a series of three-month research studies, a multi-disciplinary research team will work with stakeholders across various industries and provide a report with recommendations, strategies, and plans to address and mitigate antisemitism. The aim of MIRRA is to establish best practices for the government, education, justice, media, arts, and community sectors to on how to identify, counteract, and prevent antisemitism, and in doing so, enrich Australia’s multicultural fabric, contributing to social cohesion and community wellbeing.
