Project Description

This project focuses on the numerical modelling of star formation and feedback in the interstellar medium. To
enable quantitative comparisons with real observations of star formation, we use three-dimensional models
of gas dynamics that include the most important physical processes for star formation: turbulence, gravity,
chemical evolution, magnetic fields and stellar feedback. Incorporating all the necessary physical and
chemical processes in a self-consistent, coherent calculation is an extremely challenging project. However,
all individual pieces have been successfully implemented and applied previously. We combine them in this
project, which enables us to make the most realistic comparisons with observations to date.
