Project Description

Providing culturally safe and sensitive emergency services is challenging when working with increasingly culturally diverse populations. This study explores international best practice and innovation in ambulance service delivery to CALD communities. In particular the project will focus on pre-hospital paramedic and call-takercare, gaps in access and outcomes for different cohorts accessing Triple Zero (000) for the ambulance service. Case studies on communication styles, translation challenges and new communication innovations will provide evidence based recommendations.
Working in partnership with Ambulance Victoria this mixed methods project will analyse existing large linked data sets, undertake in-depth case studies and provide insights and recommendations to support intercultural competence and inclusive emergency service delivery.
