Project Description
The Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts (DITRDCA, the Department), is seeking to undertake an Approach to Market (ATM) process to procure research and analysis on the costs and benefits for the mandatory installation of Event Data Recorders (EDRs) in road vehicles at first supply to the market in Australia.
The RFQ states that analysis is to consider the impact this has on road safety, including road safety research, and consideration of other tangential benefits and costs. The final expected product is a report on this research and analysis.
Specifically, the scope of the project is to undertake:
a) Analysis to consider the impact of mandating EDRs on road safety, including road safety research, and consideration of other tangential benefits and costs;
b) Research and analysis of the assumptions underpinning costs and benefits for the mandatory installation of EDRs in new road vehicles in Australia; and
c) Producing a report on this research and analysis.
This is to be done by reliance ‘solely on ‘current information, gathered through a desktop research exercise; or, may also include information gathered through consultation with stakeholders or other parties.’
