Project Description
The Unlocking Potential Program will begin its sixth cohort in 2016 and is part of the strategic vision of Victoria as articulated in The Education State. While feedback and evaluations of the program has been positive, the most important question remains unanswered—does the program make a difference in the way that principals lead schools, in terms of both educational processes and outcomes? In order to ascertain effectiveness, it is important to conduct research on participants who completed the UP Program and currently hold the position of principal (Darling-Hammond, LaPointe, Meyerson, Orr & Cohen, 2007). Specifically, we propose a research project that will seek to understand:
(a) how the program informed and shaped the skills, dispositions and knowledge that they use to lead their school;
(b) how these skills, dispositions and knowledge have a direct and/or indirect influence on instruction and student achievement.
