This project provides a new level of understanding of Central Victorian history. it contributes to the better management of cultural heritage assets in a key area of regional Australia by identifying different historical layers. it does so by offering a 'best practice' framework for the assessment and explanation of historic landscapes, and by demonstrating the heritage significance of the central Victorian region. The project will support and APDI research programme that develops a set of protocols for the analysis of historic landscapes, and policy for efficient cultural heritage management of sustainable tourism. Outcomes that are central to a world heritage listing of the mining landscapes of central Victoria
