Laser facility for ultra-sensitive molecular characterisation

Project: Research

Project Details

Project Description

Laser infrastructure will be established for the ultrasensitive characterisation and modification of molecular systems, ranging from single molecules of functional surfaces. Three laser systems, with complementary wavelength ranges and temporal characteristics, will provide maximum versatility for a range of fundimental and applied studies. the lasers will be deployed for understanding the fundimental building blocks of proteins and peptides, molecules that are suspected constituents of the interstellar medium, the biological function of drugs, the action of novel biosensors, and the molecular basis of disease.
