Project Description

This project leverages the research team’s previous work on the development and validation of the HaSIC, a checklist for workplace health and safety inspectors.
The proposed study will extract (with the cooperation of WorkSafe Victoria) follow-up data from the WSV database on the workplaces that participated in our previous study. We would require WSV to provide matched follow-up inspection data (i.e., inspections/notices issued post February 2016) and work-related injury and illness claims data for claims lodged by workplaces in the original sample (N = 270 workplaces) after February 2016. Following extraction of these data, we will conduct regression analyses to test whether HaSIC ratings in the original study are predictive of subsequent OHS outcomes (voluntary compliance, improvement, prohibition notices issued and WorkSafe claims at follow-up). Our access to these data would be covered by the Monash University research ethics approval that has already been granted for ISCRR project #0-14-130.
