Project Details
Project Description
Australia has a growing number of older people, and their drinking patterns are substantially riskier than for previous generations. Despite these higher rates of drinking, and the contribution of alcohol to diseases such as cancer and dementia, research shows older adults are dismissive of conventional health promotion activities.
This study will develop and deliver a co-designed campaign that amplifies stories of positive alcohol culture change to address risky drinking practices among older adults.
This study will obtain rich insights via broad interviews, co-design a lived experience story-based campaign, and disseminate end user-tested resources. These resources will be designed to cultivate norms and settings that encourage low-risk drinking competencies, care, and empower people with alternative socialising and stress/loneliness-relief practices, in order to optimise healthy ageing.
