Project Description

The proposed equipment consists of a combined FTIR/Raman spectometer and a fibre-optic near-IR microspectometer. These two machines will be the only two of their type in the Australian academic sector. The FTIR/Raman instruments enables acquisition of high-resolution FTIR and Raman spectral data at the same point location within a target, facilitating microspectroscopic examination of heterogeneous substances, and offering real-time/online monitoring characterisation. Combined FTIR/Raman and near-IR microspectroscopic equipment will expand Deakin and Monash Universities combined capability in design and examination of a variety of materials form cellular protein to carbon fibre, facilitating ongoing academic and industry collaborations.
