Project Description
The objective of the grant is to support Australian and Indonesian national and sub-national governments to deliver ambitious 1.5°C aligned climate action in the coming decade by informing the development of long-term sustainable pathways to reach net zero for a healthy planet and sustainable living conditions for current and future generations.
In Indonesia, strengthening the network of actors and creating strong coordination and collaboration among different levels of government, civil society and NGOs will support the creation of a climate governance framework to assist the Indonesian government to meet strategic objectives. Activities will be monitored throughout the project to ensure engagement is meeting the planned outcomes.
In Australia, the progress on climate action achieved to date has created new opportunities to support the government to step up to the challenges posed by climate change and provide policy-makers with an evidence base for stronger action across sectors and climate policy. The sub-national Climate Dialogue will continue to provide an opportunity for sub-national governments to engage while also providing the Australian government with a better understanding of action under way at the sub-national level. This will enable more targeted policy and sectoral planning to complement and enhance sub-national action. Activities will be monitored throughout the project to ensure engagement is meeting the planned outcomes and evaluative data will be collected throughout the project to support the development of a case study on the Dialogue structure.
