Project Description

This project meets several AERF priority areas of research goals, including improving healthcare, identifying important comorbidities accompanying first seizures and limiting or preventing adverse consequences of seizures. Aims are:
1. To determine first seizure patient outcomes through linkage to state- and nationwide datasets, including recurrent seizure presentations, all-cause hospital attendances and admissions, serious injuries, comorbidities and mortality.
2. To determine the health and economic benefits of FSCs as a health intervention through reduced health service utilisation by reducing seizure recurrence, morbidity and mortality.
3. To develop a multimodality tool to predict future seizure occurrence, future hospital admissions, morbidity and mortality.
