Project Description
Research in professional development has identified follow-up and in-school support as essential elements of effective professional development(PD) programs for teachers. This longitudal study investigates three in-school initiateves designed to embed and extend the benefits of a major PD program in classroom management conducted in 2008-2009. Previous studies of the program have shown that while teacher behaviours change in the short term some teachers fail to sustain these changes over the longer term. Outcomes will be a deeper understanding of how to sustain change in classroom management practices, leading to improvements in academic achievement and social inclusion for students.
