Impact of Operational Sleep Disruption on PTSD-relevant Fear Learning Processes

Project Description

Primary: Research on how the disruption of normal sleep and circadian biological rhythms adversely affects the physical and psychological health, safety, performance, and productivity of military and civilian populations. The focus of this proposal is on psychological health in those at risk for trauma-related disorders.

Secondary: Research on the association between sleep disorders and post-traumatic stress disorder, traumatic brain injury, depression, and/or anxiety and suicidal behaviors. Specifically, the association between sleep disruption and biological mechanisms underlying PTSD, with clear implications for other anxiety disorders.
