Identification of current gaps in professional development opportunities for translators and interpreters in Australia

We will conduct a nationwide survey of translators and interpreters to determine unmet need. The survey will identify practitioners’ current engagement in PD, the factors that have guided them when selecting PD courses, their satisfaction levels with current PD opportunities, and their opinions as to what will guide them when selecting further PD. For those practitioners who have never or only seldom participated in PD, the questionnaire will uncover the disincentives and barriers to participation. We will produce a report analyzing the questionnaire data identifying gaps in PD training and providing recommendations for PD providers and funding bodies.
