Project Description
The objective of this research is to provide current, Victorian ICISS methodology and Diagnosis-specific Survival Probabilities (DSPs), based on in-hospital deaths as well as linked death data, which includes pre-hospital and post-hospital deaths.
Additionally, the study aims are to:
• Calculate newly generated age-specific and sex-specific DSPs as well as overall DSPs
• Provide a robustness measure for each injury code DSP, based on caseload used for the calculation. Rare conditions will have a lower level of robustness
• Generate multiplicative as well as worst-injury based ICISS scores, for comparison
• Evaluate the new scores on Victorian hospital data, comparing the array of newly generated Victorian scores with the Australian scores that are currently in use
• Provide recommendations regarding the most suitable ICISS methodology and DSPs for use in Victoria
• Make available the DSPs and methods required for generating ICISS, as well as the syntax used to generate these.
