Project Details

Project Description

Interreligious conflict and anti-Muslim sentiment fuelled by ignorance and stereotypes have increased in Australia since September 11, 2001. This project will investigate the social and political hopes and aspirations of Australian Muslims taking into account the effect of generational differences and transnational information flows in order to determine whether Muslim hopes and aspirations are different from those of other Australians. This study is to be carried out in the Metropolitan and regional Victoria. This is the first time that such an extensive and comparative study of this significant Australian community is conducted.
