    Project Description

The High Impact Teaching Strategies (HITS) document is the most commonly used Victorian Teaching and Learning (VTLM) resource and schools and teachers have been seeking additional HITS related implementation resources and examples of practice. Monash University, Faculty of Education has been engaged by the Department to develop a catalogue of HITS resources.

The aim of this research project is to provide easily accessible resources to support Victorian teacher’s professional growth. The proposed methodology is desktop review which uses a snowball technique, beginning with an a-priority framework of search terms and inclusion/exclusion criteria generated by the research team. These will include HITS 1 – 10, school phases, curriculum area and audience type, together with any other criteria to be determined through consultation with the client.
The scope of this research project includes examinations of resources, practice examples, practice approaches and implementation tools that prioritise Victorian and Australian contextual examples (for example, artifacts from the members of the Council of Professional Teaching Associations of Victoria and the Australian Professional Teachers Association respectively). International examples of best practice (for example, the International Society for Technology in Education) will also be considered as part of this review.

The project will be delivered in five phases. After the curation of these resources, each curriculum area and school phase will be reviewed through a subject matter expert from Monash to review each resource selected with a view to assure the quality of the resource and the reputability of the developer of the artifact. This will ensure not only quality resources from reputable sources are included in the final web tool (Share Point), but also that the information accompanying each resource is carefully checked to ensure its accuracy and accessibility for educators. The final output of this research will be a delivery of repository of resources linked to each of the ten High Impact Teaching Strategies based on the review and feedback from the client.
