    Project: Research

    Project Details

    Project Description

This project will be the second and final volume in the first contempory, definitive, biographical study of Gough Whitlam. The biography is part of a broader proposal that includes a multimedia platform enabling delivery of and access to a range of archival material on Gough Whitlam, the Whitlam government and collegues and generating an extensive new resource in its Oral History collection. The project draws on unprecedented access to Gough Whitlam himself in interview and to existing manuscripts and Oral Histories with the National library of Australia. This project examines Australian political and cultural developments in the late twentieth century through the life, from 1972 and beyond, of one of its most significant public figures.
