Project Description
The Russian Federation recently introduced a national curriculum. Australia, a federal state, is developing a national curriculum. Because history deals with politically and socially controversial past events, history education has played, and continues to play, a contentious role in formulating overall curriculum policy and in creating national identity in each federation. As part of a recent and significant movement to globalise understandings of history education, this comparative project will examine four elements in each nation's construction of history education policy: policy formulation, curriculum documentation, textbook analysis and teacher disposition, using an intended/stated/enacted/realised curriculum analytical framework..
