    Project Description

The properties of matter beyond nuclear density remains one of the foremost outstanding problems for fundamental physics. We propose to search for the fastest-spinning neutron stars to constrain their interior properties. Studies of thermonuclear explosions in the accumulated material will provide complementary radius measurements, as well as tests for exotic matter. We will utilise proven observational strategies with satellite-based X-ray observatories, in collaboration with experts from the USA and Canada. The expected outcomes will play a key role in the future development of high-density matter theories, as well as potentially providing the first strong evidence for exotic states of matter.
