Functional Supramolecular Materials for Sensing and Sequestration

Project: Research

Project Details

Project Description

The proposal will address the synthesis of functional materials utilising supramolecular forces between molecules - a 'bottom-up' approach towards developing materials with nano-scale properties. Materials will be synthesised using a combination of metal coordination and hydrogen-bonding. These materials will be designed such that their interior surfaces are selective towards certain species, with particular focus on CO2, chiral species and anions, and will therefore be able to aid in separation of mixtures, sense target molecules or sequester/adsorb gases.
