Vietnamese veterans have marched on Anzac Day since 1981. Yet few know their histories. These veterans are in the unique position of being able to view the Vietnam War through a double lens and offering a fresh perspective of the war and of Australia's involvement in the war. By making them the focus of the study, this project breaks new ground internationally. It will contribute a vital new dimension to Australian war and immigration history, and strengthen Australia's social fabric by furthering community understanding. It will result in the first oral histroy study of Vietnamese Australian veterans, a major edited volume, a scholarly monograph and key new collections at the National Library of Australia and National Museum of Australia.
