Fixed Intersection Cameras, Victoria: Site assessments

Project: Research

Project Details

Project Description

The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the Department), on behalf of the Fixed Camera Site Selection Committee (FCSSC), has requested an assessment of the potential crash reduction benefits associated with Fixed Intersection Cameras at six locations in Victoria. The six locations are varied in their camera history and system complexity. Broadly, across the six locations there are:

• Four intersections that currently have no approved camera sites;
• One intersection with an approved camera site that is under consideration for an additional camera site(s); and
• One intersection with an approved camera site that has been inactive since 2017 due to civil works, and is under consideration for reinstatement or relocation to a different approach leg.

The aim of the project is to provide recommendations to the FCSSC on the placement of Fixed Intersection Cameras at the six locations.
