Project Description
Project description
Finding our Voice (FoV) is an innovative project that supports and commissions new musical artworks and performances across Australia. Funded by the RISE (Restart Investment to Sustain and Expand) fund and supported by UKARIA, the project commissioned and produced eight live events, filming content that captured the creative process from conception through to performance, and producing educational resources intended for the School sector.
This research will focus on artist and RISE team members’ perceptions of the life and career development outcomes of participation in the FoV project, and the impacts for the Australian creative arts sector in 2023. The research will make recommendations for future projects and investments in the sector.
Research approach
The research will focus on three types of data generation and analysis. First, videos of performances and resources will be viewed and analysed to ensure familiarity with the distinctive nature of each project. Second, extended interviews will be undertaken with artists to identify their creative intent in producing and performing the work, the impacts of being involved in the project during the 2020 - 2023 pandemic period, and the career outcomes emerging from engagement in the project. Third, key members of the project team will be interviewed to identify their perspectives on the structure of the project, facilitators and constraints, contributions to the Australian creative arts sector, and future possibilities. Interview data will be analysed to identify emerging themes. Findings will be reported through a confidential report to the FoV team with further publications potentially emerging.
