I will realise a new body of photographic, sculptural, video and sound work exploring the themes of disconnection from country, massacres, resistance, war and conflict for an exhibition at the Koorie Heritage Trust Gallery in March 2019. The project takes, as a starting point, the Massacre Map of Victoria published in 1991. The map identifies the locations of known killings of Aborigines by Europeans throughout Victoria for 18 years between 1836 and 1853 as a consequence of rapid British pastoral occupation. The project aims to acknowledge the resilience and resistance of ancestors who survived and whose descendants live fully in the present.
