Exploring variation in Victorian health professionals’ unmet learning and practice needs in relation to the Optimal Care Pathway for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People with Cancer

Aim: To explore demographic and occupational (i.e. clinical experience-related) variation in Victorian health professionals’ unmet learning and practice needs in relation to the Optimal Care Pathway for Aboriginal and Torres Strait People with Cancer.

Methodology: A cross-sectional study design will be used. Data will be sourced from an electronic and paper-based survey of Victorian health professionals’ learning and practice needs in relation to implementing the Optimal Care Pathway for Aboriginal and Torres Strait People with Cancer. The data will be analysed by producing cross-tabulations of different types of unmet learning and practice needs by particular health professional factors, including demographic (e.g. geographic region of Victoria) and occupational (e.g. cultural training) factors. Pearson’s chi-squared test will be used to assess the statistical significance of variation in unmet learning and practice needs across demographic and occupational factors. A p-value less than 0.05 will denote statistical significance. All statistical analyses will be undertaken in Stata Version 15.0 (StataCorp, College Station, Texas, USA).
