Project Description

This project aims to enhance the cognitive and affective experiences of students when learning mathematics, and provide teachers with strategies to extend their knowledge for teaching in the early years. We will focus on sequences of challenging tasks that enhance students’ motivation, confidence and persistence, whilst informing teacher knowledge and pedagogical approaches. Given the current interest in schools on improving student outcomes, this project is significant in that it will provide evidence of the potential of sequences of challenging to consolidate student mathematical learning. An important outcome is advancing the knowledge of how best to support early years teachers.
