Project Description

This research project aims to investigate the calcium signalling events associated with cell adhesion to surfaces and examine in detail the effect of specific adhesion events on the fundamental signalling mechanism(s) controlling calcium regulation in blood cells. We specifically aim to develop and utilise a novel imaging system that will enable us to simultaneously monitor a number of cell adhesion and signalling processes in real-time. It is expected that the development of this imaging technology will define a major role for cell adhesions in modifying enzymatic signaling
