Project Description

The aim of this study is to evaluate the Auskick Pre-learn Day, a program designed to closely mirror a typical Auskick session, while providing children with the opportunity to experience and learn about the activities involved in Auskick in a contained and controlled environment, where numbers of attendees are limited and activities are structured and designed based on the principles of graded exposure, for instance, where children can observe the activities before trying them out or signing up to participate. Auskick coaches facilitating Pre-learn day will also receive training in disability inclusion prior to attending the day. Furthermore, the Pre-learn Day environment has been designed to accommodate for feelings of anxiety that may arise due to a range of factors such as anxiety, sensory overload and social difficulties, by incorporating a Quiet Room containing sensory equipment, dimmed lighting and social stories about Auskick.
