Emergent phenomena in quantum chromodynamics

Project: Research

Project Details

Project Description

This Project aims to improve our understanding of a universal and fundamental physics process: the transition from quarks and gluons (partons) to hadrons in quantum chromodynamics (QCD). A new treatment of quantum corrections to high-energy processes will be developed and combined with a revised picture of how colour strings break up into hadrons. These questions are not only of fundamental interest but impact theoretical uncertainties in ongoing precision studies at the Large Hadron Collider and related experiments. Outcomes include a better understanding of the complex and exciting emergent dynamics in QCD and an open-source code with broad applications, including significantly more reliable calculations of numerous high-energy processes.
