"The Ecological Impact Award was established by the Ecological Society of Australia to celebrate and recognise the working partnership between ecological researchers and ecological practitioners. An innovative project to combat invasive rodent populations on Norfolk Island has been awarded the Ecological Society of Australia’s 2021 Ecological Impact Award. The work was conducted as part of a collaboration between Monash University (represented by Allie Nance and the Clarke Lab) and Norfolk Island National Park (represented by Mel Wilson and the NINP management team), and demonstrated that the use of above-ground rodent control methods can greatly improve the effectiveness of invasive rodent control. NINP are now in the process of modifying the current ground-based rodent monitoring program."
