Drowning Out-of-Hospital Cardiac Arrest in Australia and New Zealand

We propose a retrospective observational study of patients across Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland and New Zealand between 2006 and 2022 who had a drowning-related OHCA. This study aims to use the Utstein format to examine the characteristics and outcomes of drowning OHCA in Australia, to 1) identify contexts and risk factors for drowning in our region, 2) examine trends over time, and 3) determine the efficacy of different prehospital rescue and resuscitation strategies.
