Project Description
This research project will be used to identify effective programs to maintain and increase girls’ participation in sport. The purpose of this research is to examine the impact of the association between masculinity, gender norms/roles, and stigma in female’s participation in, or dropout from, sport during adolescents.
Quantitative survey research will identify the importance of several psychosocial correlates (e.g., masculine norms, gender norms/roles, stigma) of participation (non-participation in sport), and drop-out from sport.
The findings will consist of a written report overviewing key findings and implications as well as a formal presentation to relevant Government stakeholders.
