Project Details
Project Description
Recently, antibiotic resistance in Gram-negative 'superbugs' has presented a global medical challenge. There are currently no novel compounds active against these superbugs in the drug development pipeline. It is not an exaggeration to state that the world iso n the brink of a return to the pre-antibiotic era. Colistin is the last-line of defence against these superbugs. Unfortunately, resistance to colistin has been increasingly reported worldwide. The project would investigate the potential for discovery of novel compounds against Gram-negative superbugs from marine organisms, a very promising source for novel antibiotics.
