Project Description

This PhD project will use a longitudinal multimodal approach to investigate white matter diffusion changes using Diffusion Weighted Imaging (DWI) techniques and changes in the motor cortex iron accumulation using Quantitative susceptibility mapping (QSM) combined with detailed clinical assessment of motor and cognitive symptoms in patients with limb onset MND compared to healthy controls. This project will add to knowledge of how the disease spreads in the brain which is critical in informing future research into potential treatments to stop or slow MND disease progression.
