Project Description
This application is for Australian new music ensemble, Decibel, to tour Britain as part of the UK/Australian Season, presenting concerts of Australian works as well as seminars, workshops and research collaborations in the last two weeks of November 2021. They will visit 6 universities, including City, University of London; Goldsmiths University, London; The Institute for Sonic Creativity, De Montfort University, Leicester; the University of South Hampton; Huddersfield University and the Open Scores Lab, Bath Spa University. They will perform 8 concerts during the tour. They will travel by van to each location.
Decibel consists of 6 members, a mix of senior and early career academic researchers who are musicians, composers and programmers from both Edith Cowan University, Perth and Monash University, Melbourne. Led by Professor Cat Hope at Monash, the ensemble epitomises the artistic research laboratory: engaging artistic research methods to develop and showcase new compositions, performances and software applications that assist online collaboration, recognised Internationally through awards, funding and previous collaborations as outlined in our CV. The tour will celebrate creative industries, innovation and education sectors in both countries.
