De-industrialising and reinventing the inner city: A tale of two cities, Melbourne and Geelong, c1970-2000

This project is a social and cultural history of two regions, inner Melbourne and Geelong, during a period of rapid demographic, social and economic change the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s. Drawing on a range of documentary, oral and visual sources it investigates the process of de-industrialisation and the social and cultural changes associated with the emergence of a vibrant post-industrial information society in these regions.
