Project Details
Project Description
The objective of this research is to understand the emplacement of magmatic bodies in the the Eastern Goldfields (WA) that date back to ca. 2.65 billion years. Associated with these intrusions and slightly postdating them is Cu-Au mineralisation. The target is to (1) constrain the emplacement mechanisms of the intrusions; (2) investigate a possible link to the mineralisation (3) get a detailed understanding of the age of mineralisation. All of these subproject should provide a better understanding of the overall framework of local mineralisation and maybe used by local mining companies.
The research forms part of a Monash PhD student (Wenli Liang), who will carry out stable and radiogenic isotope analyses and trace element systematics on selected rocks and minerals from the Eastern Goldfields in Western Australia.
