    Project Description

    This project aims to better understand the experiences and needs of young people between the ages of 16 and 25 who have a Parent with a Mental Disorder (JPTM) during their transition to adulthood . The data collected will contribute to a better understanding of the realities experienced by JPTMs and to offer a range of services that meet their needs. This project is taking place in partnership with the community organization Réseau Avant de Cracker , a group of 39 associations offering services to relatives of people with mental disorders in different regions of Quebec.

    This project uses Photovoice which is a participatory action-research method using photography and group discussion. For this, cameras are given to the participants so that they take a picture of what concerns them in their daily lives.

    This method encourages dialogue and allows individuals to deepen their understanding of a common reality, in addition to exposing them to the community (Vandette et al., 2014, 172).

    The young participants in this project will have the opportunity to inform , using photographs and other digital tools, the researchers, the managers and the speakers of the member associations of the Network Before of Crack, as well as various actors gravitating around them about the challenges they face and support measures and interventions they would like to benefit . They will be invited to develop the awareness tools that will be distributed to various public will attract the attention of these on the situation of JPTM and the importance of developing solutions to support the transition to adult life these young ones.
