Project Details
Project Description
Many Indo-Pacific countries have rapidly ageing populations. Ageing is a World Health Organization (WHO) regional priority. Many older adults struggle with complex medication regimens leading to medication errors and adverse drug events. Addressing preventable medication-related harm is WHO’s Third Global Patient Safety Challenge. Most research on preventing medication-related harm is conducted in North America and Europe. Indo-Pacific countries often have different models of aged care focused on families and informal caregivers. There is a need for new culturally appropriate strategies to prevent medication-related harm. The project will generate new evidence to inform medication management policy and practice.
