Project Description
Claims about the complex ways in which young people's lives are entangled with digital technologies abound, yet little empirical research has been conducted to map how they use them and with what impact. This study aims to: (1) identify, classify and critique the range of 'cultural forms', such as weblogs and text-messages, with which young people engage when they use digital technologies (2) examine the associated changes to literacy practices and (3) consider the implications for education. The project will produce research-based understandings of young people's interactions with digital technologies in school, home and community, and guidelines for pedagogical reform.
