This project for the Department of Education involves the development of a suite of professional behaviour support units – Behaviour Assessment and Supports in Schools (BASIS), for Victorian government school teachers and education support staff in classroom roles. The professional learning units will be developed using highly sophisticated multi step content development and refinement methodology. It will ensure that the content is relevant and sensitive to the local Victorian school contexts and informed by the best research evidence. The self-paced units will equip Victorian school teachers and education support staff with best-practice methods in understanding and responding to student behaviour. The goal is to provide staff with practical skills and information in observing, assessing, recording, and implementing behaviour supports programs in a school context. The units will equip educators with practical tools to undertake behaviour assessment and intervention to design and implement high quality plans for students with behaviour support needs.
