Automatic Design and Fabrication of Soft Robotic Grippers for Industrial Applications

Project: Research

Project Details

Project Description

The goal of the project is to develop a cost-effective soft robotic gripper for industrial applications through collaboration with industrial partners. The design and fabrication process of the grippers will be automated based on state-of-the-art machine learning techniques and additive manufacturing technologies.

The scheme is called I-Connect scheme where ASM is pointed by MOSTI to select projects related to industry 4.0. The selection process and the engagement between university and companies are organized by CREST and Nano-Malaysia. There's no online submission as the proposal was directly presented many times. The project involves two entities: Monash University Malaysia and T-Robot (https://www.t-robot.my/) as the industry partner. The project leader is Monash University Malaysia.

After the many presentations, the project is already approved. The PURE application was prepared a long while ago, but new documents to be filled out were kept being added by ASM/CREST/Nano-Malaysia so it can only be finalized now. However, the agreement is not sent yet by them. I simply send the documents that are already available first to speed up the process.
