Professor Reiner has recently developed a novel technique for the investigation of nerve cell maturation in the developing mouse cortex. This novel approach, known as "tandem in utero electroporation", allows the tracking of discrete populations of embryonic brain cells by labeling them with green fluorescent protein (GFP). As AIRE Fellow in Prof Reiner's laboratory, I will learn Prof. Reiner's new methods to track the migration of brain cells, and to be able to investigate how local environmental cues influence the positioning of new neurons within the developing mouse brain
